Ilford return to FA Vase action this weekend as Benfleet FC are welcomed to Cricklefield, as the Foxes look to get back to winning ways having failed to pick up a win in their previous three games.

Varying Form

Ilford have struggled to get going this season, having won just one of their first five league outings, coming in a resounding 6-2 win against Redbridge. The Foxes will be looking to build some momentum and continue on from their dominant 5-3 win in the first qualifying round of the Vase.

The opposition may have other ideas, with Benfleet coming into this one undefeated from their opening five league games. Having won three and drawn two the visitors find themselves fairing much better than their hosts, most notably an impressive 8-4 victory in their last outing against League opponents Brimsdown.

Dangermen

Despite the foxes’ faltering start to the start to the season, frontman Yemi Adelani has been in fine form, scoring six goals in seven appearances for the Foxes so far this season. Ilford will be looking to Adelani as well as new signingJuan Cardona for the goals this weekend, with Cardona chipping in with four so far this season too.

Benfleet will be looking to their Captain Aaron Russell, who has scored three in six from midfield and appears a pivotal influence for the visitors. Elsewhere for Benfleet, striker Ben Foord has three goals from five starts, one coming in the FA Cup which saw Benfleet go out on penalties, and the visitors will no doubt need Foord firing in order to overcome the tough task at hand.
