Imperfect Perfect Date

Teenage heartthrob Noah Centineo, famously known for his role as Peter Kavinsky in Netlfix original movie, To All the Boys I’ve loved Before, returns to Netflix in The Perfect Date, alongside famous Riverdale actress, Camila Mendes and Laura Marano, known for her role as Ally Dawson in Austin & Ally.

Noah is ordinary high school student Brooks Rattigan, working hard to get into his dream college, Yale. Then one of his classmates offers him his luxurious car to take his rich cousin, Celia Lieberman, to her high school prom. As in every other teenage movie you have ever seen, this is what leads our hero to fall for someone – in this case Shelby. Sound familiar?

As Brooks builds up to talking to his dream girl through cousin Celia, he has to continue working hard to earn enough money and points to get into Yale, with the help of his best friend, Murph. To get his dream girl, Brooks and Celia “fake date”, which you probably remember from the plot of To All The boys I’ve Loved Before.

Whether Brooks ends up getting into his dream college while also dating his dream girl, remains a mystery for you to solve, but a hint is that this movie ends like any other teenage drama you have ever seen.

Given that the actors and actresses in the movie are well known and have worked on big projects before, I expected the storyline to be more original and more believable. Instead we get more of what we have seen Noah do before, and Twitter seems to agree:

For all the Noah fans, it is worth a watch if you’re bored on a Sunday night, but I do not recommend making this your priority!
