Instagram “activist” and “voice of the hood” Faron Alex Paul (@officialfaz) is calling on youngsters to contact him via his #fazamnesty campaign to dispose of their knifes and other weapons.
Although the initiative has only just started, he has already heard from people who say they are afraid that if they hold onto their weapons they may use them.
One post reads: “I got a M16 with some ammo and I’m thinking I need to get rid of it. Could you help me dispose of it?”
In another post Faron can be seen handing a package over to three policemen that includes a machete, a hammer and three “Rambo knives”.
There have been 24 stabbings in London so far this year. The latest victim was 26-year-old David Martinez who died after being attacked in Leyton yesterday.
