It seems that East London is becoming the place to be for the music scene and is trying to be the music centre of London.

With new music and entertainment venues opening up, which include the MSG Sphere, The ABBA Arena and the BBC Music Studio at East Bank, everyone will be heading to East London to get their music fix.

Let’s take a look at some of the exciting new venues opening up:

The MSG Sphere

Madison Square Entertainment Corp (MSG Entertainment), the American company behind iconic live entertainment venues such as New York’s Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, has had the seal of approval to transform an undeveloped site in the centre of Stratford, East London, into an MSG Sphere.

This brand-new music and entertainment venue, which will resemble the earth, will create unforgettable moments for fans in the UK.

It is considered to be “unlike any other venue you have experienced before” using the largest and highest resolution LED screen in the world, adaptive acoustics that delivers crystal clear audio to every audience member and a haptic system so you can ‘feel the experience’.

The exciting new venue will be used for a variety of events, including concerts, residencies, immersive experiences, family shows, award shows and select sporting events.

Having the venue in our very own East London’s Stratford is considered to be the ideal location, with excellent transport links and other huge companies, like Westfield shopping centre, surrounding it. This venue will definitely put East London on the map for the music and entertainment scene.

The ABBA Arena

There are already many ABBA related materials going on in London, including Mamma Mia in the West End and also Mamma Mia the Party located in Greenwich. However, the biggest yet will be the new ABBA Arena opening up, which will be located at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with a capacity of 3,000. This will coincide with the release of the group’s new album Voyage and will be an exciting and a once in a lifetime experience for all ABBA fans.

The venue will include dance booths, food, beverages and much more. The audience will be able to watch a live band perform alongside pre-recorded motion capture performances from the four ABBA group members. The motion-capture performance will mix the physical world and digital world, which the world has not seen before.

The first day of the event will take place on the 27th May right up until December 31st, with tickets being available to buy now.

The new BBC Music Studios are expected to open up in 2025, located in our very own East London. The studios, in the Stratford East Bank development at the Olympic Park, will become home to the Radio 1 Live Lounge and BBC Proms.

The exciting new studios will have a variety of spaces, including three music studios and two self-operated radio studios, an edit suite and a visualisation gallery. Studio 1 will fit an orchestra and an audience of up to 300 people, or a pop band with an audience of up to 800.

The BBC locating its popular music recording studios in Stratford will help establish the East area as a music destination, which will be very exciting for the future of the East London music scene.
