Yesterday at the Copper Box Arena, the London Lions faced and defeated the Surrey Scorchers, 88-73 in regulation time.

The Lions were powered on by another entertaining and exciting game from both Dirk Williams and Isaiah Reese who scored a combined 36 points.

Reese was also responsible for 14 of the Lions’ 23 assists during the game, having eight more assists than Andrew Lawrence from the Scorchers who was the top passer on his team.

The Lions outscored their opponents, 52-29 in the first half, and entered the second half of the game with a comfortable lead.

Toughest

The London side experienced their toughest quarter of the game right after halftime, only scoring 11 points whilst allowing the Scorchers to score 21, which saw them get back into the game and within just 13 points with one more quarter to go.

Thankfully the Lions put the foot back on the pedal offensively in the final part of the game and outscored the Surrey team 25-23, making sure the visitors could not erase the deficit on the game.

Defensively both teams were equal, with the Scorchers actually grabbing more rebounds and forcing more blocks than the Lions. But where the home team separated themselves was in the shooting categories.

The Lions had themselves a very efficient game on the attack, scoring 57% from the field and 41% from behind the three-point line, while the Scorchers were below 40% in both field goals and three-point shooting.

Dethrone

The Lions’ next game is against the Bristol Flyers at the Copper Box Arena once again at 4 pm on the 10th of October.

With the Lions being the team that everyone wants to dethrone at the moment it will be an exciting game to watch as the Flyers will look to bring the home side back down to earth.
