The Police have arrested a man over a series of sexual assaults in Tower Hamlets. Abdul Nadher Kayum,19, was charged on Tuesday and appeared in custody on Wednesday at the Thames Magistrates’ Court.
The MO of the incidents that led to the arrest involved coming up from behind women on a bicycle and harassing them, during a spree of assauts that stretched over a month.
Kayum’s arrest took place a few days after the police released CCTV images of a man they wanted to interview in regard to the incidents.
Before the arrest East London student Jasmine Butler told Rising East: “With the recent murder of Sarah Everard in London, women are getting more and more wary of being out on the street. So having a man that’s not done just one, but seven crimes does make it scarier to be out, especially after dark.”
