If you thought picking lipstick as a stocking filler was an easy task…think again. I’ve put two leading liquid lipsticks to the test in a live lipstick ‘Swatch-off’ (see video below).

Ever since Fenty Beauty by Rihanna debuted the Pro Filt’R foundations last year, the hype around the brand has been insane!  The foundations feature 40 shades which is one of the factors in the brand’s success – well it didn’t hurt that the founder is the self-proclaimed ‘BadgalRiRi’. They’ve since extended the line with more products including four new liquid lipstick shades, which had dedicated supporters eager to get their hands on some.

I couldn’t help joining the hype and snagging one for myself! This would be my first time purchasing from the brand. I was filled with excitement when my package arrived, ***SPOILER ALERT: Little did I know that I’d be underwhelmed by the lipstick.

What sold me on making my online purchase, was a quote from the description for the lipstick in shade ‘Uncuffed’. It read: “Stunna Lip Paint won’t feather, staying kissable smooth. In other words, it behaves so you don’t have to.”

I’m a real foodie and quite forgetful when it comes to topping up my lipstick after I’ve eaten, so having a lipstick which “behaves” for me would have been a smart choice.

Don’t get me wrong… I can appreciate that it’s really pigmented and all, but after giving it 10 minutes to set and it STILL smudges everywhere…come on! You can see for your self that Huda Beauty Cheerleader lipstick stays put.

Beauty fanatics can’t help but compare most of the Fenty Beauty range to Huda Kattan’s cosmetic line – I don’t blame them. Although Kattan began with luxury strip lashes in 2013, she also released a wide range of foundations a month after Fenty beauty’s launch last year September.

I thought a classic lipstick ‘swatch-off’ would come in handy for those who are still uncertain which lipstick to go for.

To compare the two, I also read the description of the Huda Beauty liquid lipstick Cheerleader. It reads: “kiss-resistant veil of vibrant colour that won’t smudge, flake or transfer” – I agree with it 100%!

Although Fenty Beauty’s popularity is commendable, for me it’s clear that Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks win this battle. So, this season don’t just make an expensive purchase, make it a wise one!
