Lockdown Likeables I’m Already Missing

It looks like we’ll soon be let out of quarantine. On the one hand, I just can’t wait. On the other hand, there are some aspects of lockdown life that I’m already starting to miss……

Clean air: Flight cancellations, reduced public transport services and far less traffic, have caused pollution levels to plummet across the UK – in some cities up to 40%. This is the purest air I have ever breathed! Sadly for my lungs, the end of quarantine is likely to bring back sky high pollution levels.

Getting paid without having to leave the house: Earning 80% of my salary without having to work? Too good to last!

Saving money: Travel and eating out are what I normally spend most money on. How things change: last week, my bank sent me a message expressing concern about the lack of movement in my account. Thank you for your kind message, Barclays. Apparently, I have become a saver rather than a big spender.

Wearing comfy clothes all the time: Wearing a nightgown all day, not having to fix my hair or put on any make up – these are blessings that I have waited for my whole life. I never quite understood why answering a videocall at 3pm whilst still wearing my pjs used to result in some judgmental comments from the person on the other line, but we’re all doing it now! Ironically, in the midst of a lockdown we are finally free in our own homes.

I can’t believe I’m saying this….but it’s a shame it can’t last.
