Now that the UK has been in quarantine for more than a month, you’ve probably watched all the Netflix shows you’d previously heard of. So why not try something different, such as Korean dramas? Here’s my list of 12 such shows which are definitely worth the binge!
• Crash Landing On You: Yun Se-Ri wakes up in a tree in North Korea after a paragliding accident. Now she has to find a way to not only get back to South Korea but also not to get caught in the North. With the help of Captain Ri Jeong-Hyeok and his comrades will Se-Ri make it safely back to South Korea?
• Fight For My Way: Four best-friends tackling the problems of their daily lives while also trying to balance their dreams and love lives. Although it might seem serious, don’t get swayed; this K-drama is extremely funny and entertaining with all the bickering between the characters, cool MMA fight scenes, and hilarious dialogue.
• Itaewon Class: Park Sae-Ro-Yi is back for revenge after he was wrongfully accused of……. With the help of his friends he opens a small restaurant and is ready to destroy the two men who ruined his life.
• Strong Woman Bong-Soon: For generations the power of extreme strength has been passed down to every female in Bong-Soon’s family. Bong-Soon has tried to keep this superpower a secret, until she meets An Min-Hyuk, the CEO of a gaming company who hires her to protect him.
• Suspicious Partner: After accidentally witnessing something she doesn’t even know she witnessed, Eun Bong-Hae becomes chief suspect for her ex-boyfriend’s murder.
• Pinocchio: Aspiring journalists go through the ups and downs of extensive training, all the while trying to stay faithful to the truth of the story.
• Vagabond: After a terrorist attack on a plane kills Cha Dal-Gun’s nephew, he seeks revenge. But nothing’s easy when the whole country is corrupt (including the government), and you don’t know who to trust.
• Healer: A night courier who does shady things for anyone that pays a high enough price, gets into trouble when she investigates a long-buried tragedy.
• Hwarang: A costume drama about an elite group of men called Hwarang who were picked by the Queen of Sila to protect the heir to the throne. Except nobody knows what he looks like or where he is.
• My ID Gangnam Beauty: In a beauty-obsessed world, this show dramatises the struggles to attain the highest standards.
• She Was Pretty: Kim Hye-Jin and Ji Sung-Joon were childhood friends until his family moved away. At the time, she was very pretty and he was more of an ugly duckling. Fifteen years later and the tables have turned. He wants to meet up again but she’s too embarrassed to show her face……
• The K2: In Iraq solider Kim Je-Ha is framed for something he didn’t do, and goes into hiding. When he saves Choi-Yoo-Jin, the wife of a presidential candidate, she hires him as her bodyguard. There he meets the secret daughter of the soon-to-be-president, and begins to protect her from her corrupt family.
