West Ham defender Lucy Parker has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of their upcoming friendlies against the USA and Czech Republic.
Parker was injured during West Ham’s Continental Tyres League Cup match against London City Lionesses earlier this week and was substituted in the 34th minute of the game.
Parker, who had never been called up to the England senior squad before, took to twitter to outline her disappointment, “Football can be cruel, and this feeling will take some time to process. Heartbroken doesn’t cover it. Another obstacle to overcome, but I will be back stronger once again.”
The nature and severity of her injury is unclear at this stage and she will now remain with her club to continue her rehabilitation.
