David Moyes travels up to his old club as West Ham face Manchester United on Sunday.

The Hammers have won six of the last eight games in all competitions, coming off a 1-0 win over Silkeborg to book their place in the Europa Conference League round of 16. In the league West Ham last beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Monday to take them into the top half of the table.

Manchester United were also involved in European action on Thursday beating Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0. They currently sit 6th in the Premier League after drawing 1-1 at Chelsea.

Ronaldo Return

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to return to league action against West Ham. The striker returned to United’s matchday squad on Thursday after being removed due to an altercation with manager Erik Ten Haag. Ronaldo also got on the scoresheet, scoring his first Old Trafford goal since May

Despite beating the Reds in the League Cup in September last year, West Ham have not won a Premier League game at Old Trafford since May 2007, back when Carlos Tevez was scoring goals to save the Hammers from relegation.

During his time as West Ham manager, ex-Manchester United boss David Moyes has only picked up two points out of a possible 18 against his former club.

Team news

Jarrod Bowen will be assessed beforehand after an ankle injury kept him from featuring on Thursday.

Summer signing Nayef Aguard still ruled out of Sunday’s game despite making his West Ham debut against Silkeborg. The Moroccan had been side-lined since suffering an ankle injury in the pre-season.

The status of Craig Dawson and Lucas Paqueta remains unclear after both missing the last few games with injuries, while Maxwell Cornet remains out after suffering a small setback in his recovery from a calf issue.

Aside from Ronaldo’s return to league action, Manchester United will be without Raphael Varane until after the World Cup due to a muscle injury, while Anthony Martial remains out with a back problem.
