Bromley’s winless run continued as they conceded three late goals against Barnet on Tuesday night to make it three without a win.

Under Early Pressure

The first half hour saw relentless pressure from the visitors Barnet. The first chance of the game came after an inch-perfect cross from Ryan De Havilland found Harry Pritchard, who headed towards goal, but Tom Smith in the Bromley goal made an excellent save to keep the away side at bay.

Marvin Armstrong was the next player to have an effort saved by Smith. Armstrong dribbled passed Callum Reynolds and, on the stretch after a heavy touch, struck his effort goalward, but a smart reaction save from the Bromley keeper denied him.

Ravens First Sight Of Goal

It wasn’t until halfway through the first half when Bromley made an impact on the game. Corey Whitely made a good run towards the edge of the box and fired an effort towards goal, but Laurie Walker made a comfortable save.

Barnet skipper Dale Gorman was inches away from opening the scoring. The midfielder struck an effort from 25 yards and hit the crossbar.

The best chance of the game for the home side came a few moments later, as a Chris Bush long throw found its way to Michael Cheek. Unfortunately, the number nine could only hit the side netting.

Hosts Second Half Fightback

After a dominant display from the visitors in the first half, the Ravens were the team in the ascendency in the second and were unlucky not to go in front. Charles Clayden’s deflected shot caused problems for Walker. Moments later, Clayden crossed for Cheek who was inches away from tapping in.

On 65 minutes Clayden’s sharp start to the half was rewarded with a goal. Brilliant build up play between Whitely and Bingham allowed the former to drive a low cross for Clayden to tap home.

Dramatic Late Collapse

With five minutes left on the clock Barnet were level. The ball fell to Idris Kanu. The wing-back fired a shot through a crowded penalty area, into the far-right corner.

On the 90-minute mark the visitors took the lead. A brilliant cross was met by the head of Pritchard who guided his effort in off the underside of the crossbar. Only two minutes later, Barnet snatched another, their third in seven minutes sealed the three points when Pritchard got his second, bringing the ball down on his chest and firing a half volley into the bottom corner.

Back-to-back league defeats and a tough one to take for the Ravens who slip to seventh in the table, whilst their counterparts rise to 10th.

Manager’s Reaction

Manager Andy Woodman was concerned about the number of goals his side conceded so late on:

“The bit that’s alarming is that we are conceding a fair few to many goals in the last five minutes of matches.”

Next up, a trip to Maidenhead for the Ravens.
