Following the disappointing 59–39 loss to Hertfordshire, we spoke to Nikita Lopez, Small Forward, for the UEL women’s 1st team.

She was out with a foot injury which she sustained earlier in the week which kept her out of the game.

Good Omens

Despite the loss the UEL women’s basketball team played incredibly well and worked as a team to fight through the last quarter of the match. The women showed determination and key values of sports, to keep pushing and showed impeccable communications skills in each quarter.

The women’s basketball is a new team that has commenced early this year. UEL are looking forward for the future of this team and what they have in store for their upcoming season whether it is a home or away competition or at training.

Unlucky Timings

Nikita Lopez is amongst the UEL women’s basketball team and was not able to take part of the game due to injury, she has been around the University of East London basketball environment before studying and this is what she had to say.

“I feel like it’s a good start to the season. However, the chemistry is not there yet as the team is still new and some have not played together before, I think we should be able to train more seriously and outside of training hours. The team have only been together for a couple a weeks to a month. I was not able to play today because two days ago at training I injured the inside of my foot.”

Success

She continued by saying, “My goal is to win the whole of Bucs, and have the teams name out there and to also learn more about the court and be physically better.” Hopefully when Lopez recovers from her injury, she helps transform this team into a title winning side.
