Leyton Orient have made it into the third round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2013-14 season after a dominant display against Tranmere Rovers at the Breyer Group Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Aaron Drinan, Omar Beckles and two from Harry Smith ensured that Orients name is well and truly in the hat.

Early Lead

Orient took the lead after 22 minutes, a lovely through ball from young O’s midfielder Hector Kyprianou found Harry Smith who slotted it past the on-rushing Rovers keeper.

Beckles doubled the O’s lead after 36 minutes. A corner was taken and then pulled back by Aaron Drinan for Beckles to tap home from close range.

Dominance

Orients dominance continued in the second half. Aaron Drinan’s cross hit Tranmere defender Peter Clarke on the arm leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.

It was Aaron Drinan himself who took the penalty and coolly converted it on the hour mark, taking his goal tally for the season to 11.

Harry Smith grabbed his brace and Orient’s fourth on 83 minutes when he stabbed home a Hector Kyprianou cross to match Drinan’s season goal tally to 11 in all competitions.

The result means that Orient are now unbeaten in their last eight home games, whilst conceding only twice.

Next on the agenda for the O’s is Swindon Town, who they welcome to the Breyer Group Stadium on Tuesday night for a League Two clash where they will look to make it back to back wins and possibly end the night in a play-off spot.
