Dagenham and Redbridge were held to a goalless draw in windy conditions at home against Boreham Wood, meaning both sides just miss out on the National League play-off places.

After a gusty 90 minutes of intense play, the Daggers were forced to share a point with eighth place Boreham Wood, leaving Dagenham & Redbridge one place behind them in 9th.

Whilst it is still mathematically possible for Dag & Red to gain promotion it looks highly unlikely for the East London based football team as they are 11 points off fifth place with only have 8 games to go.

The windy conditions didn’t deter the home side as the Daggers started off strong by applying high pressure against Boreham. However, they were unable to capitalise whilst in possession.

Boreham Wood came close when Kane Smith spotted Josh Rees with a pass but Dagenham were able to clear the ball away from their goal.

Paul McCallum had a chance too but he was denied by Taye Ashby-Hammond.

Goalkeeper Heroics

Elliot Justham made a great save by keeping out Scott Boden’s scoring opportunity from close range just before the end of the first half.

Entering the second half Boreham Wood were more aggressive on the attack; a low shot from Rees forced the Dag & Red keeper to make another crucial save to keep the scoreline level.

Coming towards the end of the second half Boden was gifted another chance close range, however, Manny Onariase showed heroic defending to keep the danger out.

Speaking to the Dagenham & Redbridge fans after the scoreless draw, they explained how they were disappointed about their attacking output.

‘I thought we really defended well as a team,” said Daggers fan Bradley Cooper.

“But when it came to attacking there was no outcome.”

9th place Dagenham & Redbridge travel to 10th place Bromley for a National League head to head match. The Daggers are looking to climb their way back into the playoff region should there be any slip-ups at the top of the table.
