This weekend sees Reading host Millwall at the Madejski Stadium with both teams looking to improve on results this season which have left them 21st and 20th respectively.

Tough Starts

Millwall, under the guidance of Neil Harris, have perhaps fallen way short of expectations so far this term, after finishing eighth in the Championship last year. Reading are following a similar path under Paul Clement, as they struggle to build up any type of momentum after their manager merry-go-round that has seen them employ seven different managers in the last five years.

Only one point separates the two sides with their form comparable. Both Millwall and Reading have had one win, one draw and three losses in their last five games. Millwall did win their last game out against a strong Aston Villa side at home and will be looking to build on that with their first victory away from home.

Recent Ties

The history between the two teams has seen Reading take the lion-share of the spoils in terms of head to head, but on recent history Millwall did the double over Reading last year with a 2-1 win at home and a 0-2 win away.

Ones to Watch

Millwall will be hoping that Tom Elliott will be their man who can cause problems for an already leaky Reading defence who have shipped 20 goals this term. Elliott, who has taken starting duties off cult hero Steve Morison as the main target man in recent matches, will be aiming to keep his spot in the team after his winner against Aston Villa before the international break. His physicality and aerial ability may be paramount in this tough away fixture.

Reading will look to striker Jón Dadi Bödvarsson to guide them to a victory they desperately need. The Icelandic striker, who has been less than prolific on his time in England, has had a new lease of life with six goals in nine Championship games this season.

With the Royals and the Lions both struggling to find their feet this season in the Championship, it builds up to be an interesting tie with both teams scrapping for the three points.
