The East London side is looking to host a local rival in the Essex Blades for a cup match, who they have managed to defeat twice before already this season.

The team will have a bit of confidence entering this local derby after their recent results and team captain, John Sanchez echoed that, telling Rising East. “I feel confident, the boys feel confident, we are ready to go in and get a result.”

In the first meeting of the season between the two sides, UEL won 2-1 whilst shaking some of the rust off from off-season, and in the second meeting UEL won more convincingly with a 4-0 win over the Essex side.

Both teams have matched up well during their first two meetings but with Essex staring down a losing streak they will be determined to beat the East London side for the first time this season.

The UEL head coach, Ryan Gordon told Rising East “It’s important we stay focused on our individual and collective responsibilities in and out of possession.”
