Lewis Hamilton has made history by winning the Formula 1 championship for the fifth time. That’s great. No really…well done to him, but let’s cut to the chase. How has he managed to come this far and get away with such dreadful style?
To be honest, it’s never been that good! His face and body have always been easy on the eye, but his lack of taste in clothes was already evident as an ambitious 23-year-old. Back then it was almost charming; 10 years after, he really should have matured, style-wise.
Hamilton managed to keep us distracted for seven years with his rocketing career and his on/off relationship with bombshell Nicole Scherzinger. It’s a shame they were never a picture perfect couple…he ruined so many photos with his bland clothes!
When you combine baggy jeans with a black shirt, brown belt and bulky shoes…what did he think was going to happen? Just a touch of elegance would have gone a long way.
Since calling it quits in 2015, Scherzinger’s journey to self-growth seems to have paid off. The former Pussycat Doll has twice been named the sexiest woman alive by Glamour magazine (2017 and 2018): she really glowed up! Meanwhile Lewis is still in the pits.
In 2016 there was the quiff phase. We were hopeful that Hamilton would enjoy being a bachelor and wow the women with a new panache. There was some progress: his suits appeared well tapered – I’ll give him that, but that hairdo did him no favours. It left him looking like the Jedwood Twins.
Fast forward to 2018 it seems he’s finally ditched the straighteners for some peroxide. But with £218 million in the bank, his ability to layer himself in loose fitting designer clothes, still isn’t good enough. The piercings, coloured bandanas (knot tied at the front of his head), gold chains and tattoos all over his body – when will he stop? Dressing like this may have got him a collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, but it’s not sufficient for The Migos to consider a new addition to their group.

That’s right – it’s rumoured that Hamilton is dating Nicki Minaj after they posted snippets of their trip to Dubai. Recently, she experienced yet another wardrobe malfunction with a double nip slip at the Made in America festival.

In the old days he gave us very little to look at but now it’s too much at once! Hamilton needs to find the right balance. Not all is lost, however. As the Christmas season approaches, he might consider investing in a stylist as a gift…for them both.
