With the Premier League season coming to an end, two London teams come face to face this Sunday, as Arsenal, who are currently sitting in fourth position, fight to keep their Champions League hopes alive against West Ham, who sit in seventh whilst still competing to gain Europa League silverware.

West Ham’s vital contributing players this season have been the likes of vice captain Declan Rice, who has three goals in the Europa League and one in the Premier League this season, Michael Antonio who has 10 goals contributions in the Premier League and Tomas Soucek with five goals in the Premier League and one in the Europa League.

On fire

Their opponents have a lot of players that deserve recognition in their squad, in particular ‘Starboy’ Bukayo Saka. Saka has been on fire and an instrumental and key player to the club contributing with 13 goals and seven assists this season. Emile Smith Rowe is another of Arsenal’s young guns that has stood out this season with 10 goals being the threat that he is from midfield and Gabriel Martinelli another, currently on five goals, that has been a force to be reckoned with. This Sunday will be a huge test for the North London side to hold on to that sweet Champions League spot against the Hammers.

West Ham will be hoping for a better result then the reverse fixture earlier this season which saw Arsenal come out as 2-0 winners, but the Hammers go into the game as underdogs following Craig Dawson’s red card in their defeat at Stamford bridge last weekend. Dawson’s sending off now means the Hammers will go into the game without a recognised centre back against an Arsenal side that have scored seven in their previous two games.

‘Test’

West Ham supporter Abigail Pritchard said, “It will be a very difficult test against Arsenal as they have proved everyone wrong in the Premier League. They have fight and togetherness, look at them from the start of the season in 20th place to fourth place shows the circumstances they can wriggle their way out.“

The young guns have shown time and time again that they are reliable, significant and hardworking, but will they continue to show drive and determination to go that step further this Sunday? Or will it be a great display and entertaining game for the east end of London as their season comes to an end?
