Forming in 2008, the indie-pop band, The Lottery Winners, consisting of Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd, and Joe Singleton took to the stage of East London’s Oslo Hackney on their “Something to Leave the House For” tour in a hilarious and connected way.

Kicking off the gig with style and charisma, the band walked onto the stage to the world-famous tune “Delilah” by Tom Jones, getting the crowd going and singing along from the get-go. Only some artists would get away with doing this and this band was certainly one of them, knowing exactly who their type of audience is.

Gets The People Going

Getting started on their set, the band started the gig with the band’s most popular tune from their debut album self named “The Lottery Winners” which the gig, in particular, was promoting.

The song has a “head-bopping” and catchy riff which almost anybody can enjoy. It really got the audiences’ atmosphere at an all-time high, with lifelong fans side by side, representing the band by wearing their merchandise thoroughly enjoying it and weren’t frightened to show it.

The absolutely hilarious frontman Rylance continued to involve the audience from the minute he entered the stage, his presence and banter appearing to be unmatched. If the man wasn’t talented enough doing what he already does, he could definitely consider being a stand-up comedian.

The band began to sing hit after hit which included “That’s Not Entertainment” and “Favourite Flavour”, with a lot of audience engagement between songs which made the audience noticeably crave more and more.

Bass player Lloyd followed on to sing a brand-new song “Sunshine” which helped bandmate Rylance have a voice break. The very unique vocals and softness of her voice were a beautiful thing to hear from the beginning to the end of the song.

Music Video Stars

The audience of Oslo were also in for a treat that night as they were told they were going to be included in the music video for their upcoming song “Much Better”.

As you could imagine this got the audience extremely excited and it was the perfect set of people to have involved as the atmosphere and excitement was unbeatable.

Before the song, the band practiced with the audience including what the lyrics would be during the chorus so everyone could be involved and sing along – This was a very nice touch and brought everyone together.

Speaking to The Lottery Winners super-fan and East Londoner Julie Munns she said: “Seeing The Lottery Winners at Hackney was a step up from my previous gig in Nottingham with them. More people, better venue, electric atmosphere with people singing along. I bloody love this band.”

On the whole, The Lottery Winners performed an exceptionally awesome concert from the second they entered the gig to the second they left. The audience engagement was something special the entire night and the band definitely know how to get a crowd going and involved.

If any upcoming and new artists want to know how to automatically get the audience’s attention, definitely attend a The Lottery Winners concert.
