Sadiq Khan is the Mayor of London. But most London boroughs also have their own mayor – which many say is a waste of money.

For example during Khan’s recent People’s Question Time on Twitter, Ian Dunn asked: “When will the folly of 32 London boroughs, 32 mayors… be abolished?”

But I think London is too big for one mayor. If Sadiq Khan was totally responsible for all 32 boroughs, then only the ones with the most serious problems would get any attention and the rest would be neglected.

And Newham’s Mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz – as someone born in the borough they control – has the type of clear vision for Newham’s future that only a local mayor could have.

So do I think that having multiple mayors is meaningless? No I don’t!
