Orient’s new signing, Jamie Turley, brings a wealth of experience and quality to the team, something which the O’s are already benefiting from after just three games.

Turley has enjoyed a great start to life at Orient, getting an assist on his full debut, followed by a goal which sent Orient into the next round of the FA Trophy.

The 28-year-old carries an air of maturity for someone of his age, and in to a team chasing promotion as well as a potential title.

Turley’s Travels

Turley started his career at Salisbury City in the 2009/10 season, picking up 32 appearances. Over the following six years, he went on to make 136 appearances in the National League with Forest Green and Eastleigh respectively.

At the end of the 2015/16 season, Turley secured his first move into the Football League, signing a deal with Newport County. He made just seven appearances during his two year stay at the club, before heading on loan to Boreham Wood for the 2017/18 season where he got a further 32 National League appearances under his belt.

The summer of 2018 saw Turley sign for Notts County, the east Midlanders handing him a second chance in the Football League. He totalled 19 appearances before joining the O’s on the 16th January.

Similar Standards

Now, Turley is looking to achieve something he has been unable to do in his illustrious career so far, winning promotion to the Football League.

Speaking after the win against Blyth Spartans, Turley played down the transition to the Football League:

“The transition going up last year, there isn’t too much in it. The sides I have been at are good sides in the National League…I believe that the top seven teams could play in League Two.”

Instant Hit

On the pitch, Turley has already given glimpses of what he can bring to the side after forming a strong partnership with Dan Happe while contributing goals.

With 211 National League appearances and counting, he can pass valuable experience on to his new team mates.

This could be even more important in helping Orient strive for a return to League Two and earning Turley his first promotion, but only time will tell for the loan signing.
