Going into the game Dagenham, on the superior form, looked to record their seventh victory in eight games. However a stubborn and resolute Halifax side disrupted the rhythm and came away with a draw.

The points were shared thanks to former Orient defender Nathan Clarke’s header, cancelling out a Jack Munns stunner.

Rush of Blood

The first half played out to a rather lacklustre viewing with only a couple of half chances for either side.

The pick of the chances fell to Munns with a quarter of an hour gone, his goal-bound free-kick was sublimely saved by Halifax stopper Sam Johnson, whose acrobatics kept the Shaymen in the game.

Disaster stuck 10 minutes from the half time whistle for the Shaymen as former Daggers defender Josh Staunton had a rush of blood and went in with a studs up tackle on Alexander McQueen after a miscommunication, the referee had no hesitation to show the red card.

Munns Magic

Dagenham began the second half with more vigour and pint-sized winger Munns made the breakthrough on the hour mark.

A Nunn cross from the right-hand side of the box ricocheted off of Clarke and fell to Angelo Balanta, the Colombian found Connor Wilkinson who turned back to goal and set up Munns, who delightfully rounded two defenders and powered his left-footed shot into the far corner.

The Daggers were comfortable with the lead for 20 minutes before Halifax hit back. A Ryan Sellers corner evaded a Dagenham head, much to the enjoyment of Clarke, who out-jumped Emmanuel Onariase to head home from close range.

Double Yellow

The Daggers had a glorious opportunity on 90 minutes as the ball fell to freshly introduced Tomi Adeloye at the penalty spot, only for the 22-year-old to get underneath the ball and sky his shot over the crossbar!

Moment’s later captain Nunn received the first of his two yellow cards, cynically fouling winger Matt Kosylo on the halfway line.

One minute later Nunn once again fouled Kosylo in the final third, it was late and the referee had no choice but to show the captain a second yellow card.

It wasn’t the result that Dagenham were looking for ahead of their trip to fellow 5th Tier club Ebbsfleet with Peter Taylor and his men looking to bounce back against the Fleet in the FA Trophy First Round on Saturday.
