UEL Women’s Football first team travel to the University of Kent looking for their fourth consecutive victory in the BUCS South Eastern 1A Division.

On the opening day of the season, UEL hosted Kent at Hackney Marshes and got off to a flying start winning 14-0. However, this was followed by a 7-2 defeat away at current league leaders Brunel.

Stephen Opoka’s side won 2-0 and 4-0 against University College London and St Mary’s University College respectively, before cruising past Queen Mary University London by a thumping 13-1 score line last time out.

The east-Londoners occupy second place in the division with 12 points, having won four and lost one of their five league matches this season.

UEL proudly boast the best goal difference in the division (27) which is 14 more than both Brunel and St Mary’s in first and third place. (13)

Mammoth Task

As for the hosts, Kent, they have struggled to get off the mark this year. They were dealt a major blow when handed a points deduction after conceding the match against UCL on the 31st October.

They sit bottom of the division on -3 points having failed to pick up a point from their opening five league games and possess a goal difference of -33.

Previously, Kent hosted league leaders Brunel University where they were beaten 1-4 at Parkwood Pitches on November 7th.

Polar Opposites

  • UEL have scored 17 goals in three away league matches this season.
  • They have netted two or more goals in each of their five league games.
  • One of their three clean sheets this season has been away from home.

  • Kent have scored one goal in five league games this season.
  • This goal came against league leaders Brunel last week.
  • They have conceded four or more goals in four of their five matches.

Captain’s Notes

“The last two weeks we have really shown and proven how good we can perform as a team. We’re looking forward to Wednesday’s game against Kent, so we can continue playing like we have been, and preparing for our game against Brunel on the 28th.”
