The UEL Men’s 2nd team are looking to bounce back from last week’s heavy defeat to Bournemouth in the Cup, as they come up against Royal Holloway University on Wednesday, tip-off 4pm at SportsDock.

When it comes to league form, it is fair to say that these teams are on the other side of the spectrum.

Royal Holloway are without a win in two games, with close losses to Surrey and Hertfordshire that has left them second-last in the South Eastern 1A table, only one place above winless Imperial.

As for UEL, they have not lost a league match since October 24 and are currently on a three-game win streak with victories against Hertfordshire, Surrey and LSBU and have amassed an outstanding +108 points difference, 68 more than current league leaders Hertfordshire.

A victory for UEL will place the squad atop the table, however, it could be only for a couple of hours as Hertfordshire face fourth-placed LSBU away from home at 5pm.

Interestingly, this is the first time that these teams have faced this season.

In December, these teams were set to face at the RHUL Sports Centre, but that match was postponed at Royal Holloway due to a slippery court and has now been rescheduled to the 13th of March.

Captain’s Corner

UEL 2nd team captain Matt McKoy-McIntosh stressed the importance of getting back to winning ways after the cup loss.

‘It’s a chance for us to get back to playing our style of basketball and show everyone that we’re still a team not to take lightly.’
