The women’s team started their season off in the best possible way with a 3-0 victory over Kings College London.

First Half Heaven

UEL came out of the blocks quickly with the King’s keeper saving a one-on-one after a mix up in defence.

However, it wasn’t long until the 12th-minute opener. Shazelle Pascall-Lewis played in and captain, Parva Rogha squared it to Olivia Bartosiak for a tap in.

Elsie Purser hit the bar from her free kick which caused tension. After 34 mins UEL doubled their advantage with a corner, Purser passed the ball to Ridhcheall Doherty who was free in the box.

Kings kicked off two down and it was about to get worse as UEL took the ball back and played in Purser with a stunning strike off the crossbar and into the top corner.

After the break, Kings came back into the game, changing their goalkeeper at half time which gave their team more control of the game.

An hour struck, and the game had slowed down. Both Kings and UEL did not have many chances to score. There was certainty for UEL as everything Kings threw at keeper Mia North was saved comfortably.

A perfect start, which now put UEL 3rd on goal difference and will be looking forward to facing Queen Mary who lost their first game 7-0.

Injury Woes

New captain Parva Rogha will be disappointed to come off, with what seemed to be a leg injury 29th minute into the game.

However, she seemed to be in good spirts on the side line supporting her teammates and being a captain off the pitch.

Coach Hyatt Reaction

Head of Women’s football John Hyatt said, “It was a well-structured performance.

“There is still more to come for this team.

” I think the score was three but if we were a little more efficient in front of goal it could have been more,” he added.
