Virgil Abloh: A Creative Mind

This week, the fashion world was devastated to learn the death of American designer Virgil Abloh. The family announced the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of the iconic designer along with a caption sharing their love.

Abloh passed away at the age of 41 after his battle with cancer. His family revealed on Instagram his battle with a “rare aggressive form of cancer”  which he had been battling for at least two years called cardiac angiosarcoma which was diagnosed back in 2019 where his career was at its peak.

The designer was known for being Off-White founder and the chief executive of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection from the year 2018. Stars such as Cardi B, Headie One, Michael Dapaah, DJ snake and his colleagues at Louis Vuitton and Off-White were amongst the people to send their condolences to the fellow designers passing last night.

Gigi Hadid shared her condolences along with a few photos with the designer calling him once-in-a-generation creative mind”.

Rapper, Kanye West, now known as Ye, dedicated his Sunday service remembering his late friend and long-time creative director he has known since 2009. The pair worked very closely, Abloh was the art director for Ye and Jay Z album called “Watch the throne” which led to a nomination for a Grammy.

Virgil Abloh was an inspiration for aspiring designers, while the designer was the first of many in the fashion industry, his talent and work will remain for future generations.
