Leyton Orient started their FA Trophy campaign with a 4-0 win over Beaconsfield Town. Goals from George Elokobi, James Brophy, Craig Clay and Dale Gorman saw the O’s comfortably march on to the second round.

The competition offers non-league sides the opportunity to play at Wembley, and opportunity that motivates Brophy.

‘’There’s not many opportunities to get to Wembley and get to play on the pitch, no matter what trophy or cup it is in. It’s important that we take this seriously, we want to get to Wembley,’’ Brophy said.

Packed

Justin Edinburgh made several changes to his starting 11, as Orient prepare for a packed Christmas period. James Brophy played the full 90 minutes.

‘’We’ve got a busy schedule coming up, so it was good for the boys to get some minutes into their legs.’’

Brophy scored the second goal of the afternoon, whilst assisting Craig Clay for O’s third.

‘’Now I’m playing further forward it’s always nice to add some goals and assists to my game. Most importantly, it’s about the team winning.’’

Debutant

Down the winger’s left hand side, was debutant Jayden Sweeney, who received his first senior appearance following a call up from the Youth side.

‘’He’s a very good player. Very young, good attitude. He’s very enthusiastic. He couldn’t have done much better today to be honest,’’ Brophy added.

The O’s play four National League games in the next two weeks, including ties against Chesterfield, Dover and a double-header against Dagenham & Redbridge.

‘’We’ve got a big squad, which helps towards our league position. There’s a lot of competition for places, so the gaffer emphasised we’ve got a busy schedule coming up; everyone will be needed over the Christmas period.’’
