Quick Starters

Veron Parkes put the Irons in front, after Mipo Odubeko’s ball wasn’t properly cleared by Swansea’s defence, which Parkes latched onto with it on the edge of the box and finished into the bottom left corner.

West Ham U18s got their first win in three league games, winning 8-2 at Swansea City U18s. A hat trick from Veron Parkes, Christian Veliky as well as goals from Mipo Odubeko, Sebastian Nebyla and Gael Keliba sealed the win for The Irons.

The East London side quickly doubled their lead just two minutes later with a goal from Republic of Ireland international, Mipo Odubeko, who scored on his first start of the season after signing for the club last week.

The forward was put through on goal by Lennon Peake and remained composed to finish the opportunity after ten minutes.

Swansea pulled a goal back through William Rickard to give the Welsh side a lifeline in the 27th minute.

West Ham regained their two-goal lead through their top scorer Sebastian Nebyla, who scored in this fixture when the sides met in their season opener.

Odubeko’s solo run and chipped pass allowed Nebyla to tap into an open goal to score his seventh goal of the season.

The Swans pulled another goal back through their top scorer, Ali Al-Hamadi who came on as a second half substitute, to net for the first time since August.

The striker could’ve equalised shortly after but was denied by a save from West Ham’s goalkeeper, Serine Sennah.

Impactful Substitution

West Ham took advantage of Swansea’s missed chance through half time substitute Christian Veliky, who replaced Odubeko at the start of the second half.

Veliky squared his pass to Parkes, who kept his composure to score his second of the game.

Veliky added his name on the score sheet in the 74th minute, to complete a counterattack which allowed Peake to release Veliky to finish beyond the Swansea keeper from close range.

Hat Trick Hero

Veron Parkes capped off a great performance by sealing his hat trick in the 83rd minute as he placed Will Greenidge’s low driven cross into the box to double his tally for the season. The midfielder has scored in his last four away games in all competitions.

Ending In Style

The Irons ended in a similar vain to how their started the game. This time, Christian Veliky reacted quickest to scrappy pieces of play in the box from sides to score his seventh goal of the season.

Substitute, Gael Keliba scored West Ham’s eighth of the day through another defensive error by Swansea, who failed to clear the ball away from their box, which allowed Keliba to calmly finish to register his first goal of the season, giving the Hammers their second win away win in 2019.

Looking Ahead

The win for West Ham is their first in three games and completes the double over Swansea this season, keeping them in fourth place.

Their next game is another away trip, this time to Leicester who are fifth in the league but could move within a point of West Ham with a win.

For the Swans, they remain second bottom, just two points above Norwich, who meet next weekend in a crucial match for both teams.
