West Ham women’s team have had a well fought out campaign so far; they are sitting in seventh place in the Women’s Super League.

All things considered, this is a very solid position, and it is what you expect from a team like the East London side. They have had ups and downs along the way in their season, losing games at different points.

Excellent Season To Date

Looking at their opponents for this semi final tie, Manchester City, who are currently in fourth place, they have had an excellent season so far. The team as a whole have world class players at their disposal.

They can take their foot off the gas at times, however, when they are needed, they step up and can provide match winning moments.

Looking into the FA Cup draw between these two clubs, there are certainly players to watch out for from both sides. The Hammers have Dagny Brynjarsdottir, the attacking midfielder, and forward Claudia Walker, who could pose City some problems.

As for the ‘Citizens’, Jamaican forward, Khadija Shaw, is a quality player for her club and could keep West Ham’s defence on their toes. It will be a tough test for West Ham as the current City team are a Champions League level side, plus they have quality players in each position in their squad.

Repeat Of 2019 Final: Will West Ham Get Revenge?

This FA Cup tie is also a repeat of the 2019 cup final. On the day, City were victorious 3-0.

This time around, the Hammers will be looking to get their revenge and reach the FA Cup final, whilst Manchester City will be looking to shatter their opponents’ hearts once more to reach the final, and hopefully win the competition as they did in both 2019 and 2020.

Abigail Pritchard, West Ham United supporter told Rising East: “I believe that West Ham can get a victory over this City team. They have proven they can be a force to be reckoned with by reaching the final two years ago, here they are now with a chance to reach the final once again.”
