East London’s Anthony Yarde is coming off an explosive KO victory over British rival Lyndon Arthur.

The Hackney born light heavyweight stopped Arthur in the 4th round back in December 2021 after being beaten by Arthur in a previous bout by close split decision.

After stopping the Manchester native in devastating fashion, Yarde added the Commonwealth & WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight straps to his list of accolades.

But it’s now three months on since that night in the Copper Box Arena & the question is what’s next for Anthony Yarde?

Flooded With Talent

On the verge of a world title fight, he must wait for the winner of WBO champion Joe Smith Jr & WBC and IBF unified champion Artur Beterbiev who fight in June.

To avoid ring rust Yarde needs to be active and have a fight in the meantime. With a huge domestic fight being announced earlier this week between Joshua Buatsi & Craig Richards, the light heavyweight division in Britain seems to be flooded with talent.

The likes of Dan Azeez and Callum Johnson are just a couple of names that could be next on the list for Anthony Yarde.

Azeez, who in his last outing stopped tough veteran Jose Burton in an upset, is the new holder of the British title. The hard-hitting South Londoner is known for his relentless pressure and slick head movement that would give Yarde a tough fight.

Callum Johnson, whose only defeat came to unified champion Artur Beterbiev, is another fighter who British fight fans are eager to see mixing it up domestically.

The slick, experienced Johnson has been at the highest level and would be the biggest name on Yarde’s resume after Sergey Kovalev. Known for an excellent jab and boxing skills, some may even consider Johnson the favourite going into that matchup.

Hopefully there will be an announcement in the coming weeks from Frank Warren, Yarde’s promoter, with an opponent and date confirmed for his next fight.
