Witham Town play host to Cambridge City in a mid-table clash of the Isthmian North. Both sides have shared similar starts to the season with just two points separating 16th Witham to 12th place Cambridge City.

Leaky Defence

“The Town” have had a shaky start to the month, conceding nine goals and scoring just one in heavy defeats to both Dereham Town and Tilbury respectively. Witham will be looking to put their defensive woes behind them, as they search for their first clean sheet since August and prevent a repeat of last season’s relegation dogfight.

Cambridge City can extend their two-point advantage on the hosts with a win, offering further leverage away from the relegation battle. Their last outing against Basildon United ended in an inspiring comeback as the visitors came back twice from being behind to win 3-2 thanks to a Ryan Sharman brace.

The fixture is the first league meeting between the sides, following Cambridge City’s transfer from Evo-Stik South.

Anyone interested in heading to the game, the address for Spa Road stadium is Spa Rd, Witham CM8 1UN. The train service is run by Greater Anglia and fans should get off at Witham Station which is a short walk from the ground.
