“The Animals Would Be Proud Of Us”

The Waltham Forest Vegans Market has only been going for three months, and includes a wide range of goods and attractions such as Asian food, homemade pasta, cruelty-free soap, kids’ activities and music. I managed to speak to one of the organisers.

Chrissie Dodkin’s full time job is as research director of Animal Defenders International (ADI) but she also helps run the market with other volunteers in her spare time, partly to introduce veganism to a new public, and partly to spread “compassion” for both humans and animals through a community-based market. The organisers also want to support small vegan businesses and to work with charities helping “vulnerable people.”

Chrissie told me that the market’s supporters were very busy on Facebook and I found a post after the event that said, “The animals would be proud of us all for showing people how amazing animal-free living is!”.

The next ‘Christmas-Special’ event will be on December 16th, in Hight Street, Walthamstow.
