Goalkeeper Dean Brill spoke after the O’s 1-1 draw with Carlisle United at the Breyer Group Stadium.

After a promising first half; in which Josh Wright’s penalty put the East-Londoners 1-0 up, Orient failed to match the same intensity in the second phase of play.

“They’re not going to come out for the second half the same team as the first,” Brill said. “They will have gone in, reassessed, and they weren’t going to let us be as good as we were in the first half.”

Having travelled to Plymouth and Grimsby in the previous week, Brill believes fatigue prevented the O’s biting back after the equaliser:

“The goal comes quite early in the second half, so I’m not sure that can be put down to fatigue. As the game wore on, it was then harder to find the reserves and the energy to push us back on.”

The 33-year-old, also discussed Fletcher’s impact on the squad in his first full week in charge:

“The gaffer has come in and has got a clear way of coaching and expressing to us how he wants us to play. It was nice that we could implement a lot of that in the first half.

“Obviously, there’s still bits we can look to improve on with a full week ahead of us and we can take the positives out of the first half and the second half obviously needs to be better.”
