The BUCS Volleyball Premier South league 2018-19 started last Wednesday with the best possible start for the UEL men’s and women’s teams. Both squads won their first game in three straight sets away from home against Bristol 1st team.

Last season the two teams won the BUCS Premier South league, with the women’s team recording nine wins and only one loss and the men’s team winning eight and losing two.

New Challenge

The UEL teams are hoping to defend their titles as Premier South Champions this season but the challenge for them this year is to achieve it while remaining undefeated.

On Wednesday 10th October the teams will play their first home games at the SportsDock against the University of Essex. The men’s game will start at 13:30 and women’s team match starts at 16:00.

Tough Tie

The last meeting between the two universities was difficult for UEL as both east London teams suffered a loss – The men’s team lost 3-1 and the women’s 3-2.

This will be the first test for the UEL teams as the University of Essex traditionally have a good squad who challenges UEL every year for the league title.

Last year the Essex women’s team were runner ups sitting just three points behind UEL.
