The cast of Shadowhunters (Katherine McNamara, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Jade Hassoune and Chai Hansen) are some of the sweetest and most charming actors out there—and at MCM Comic Con I managed to see them in person, not once but five times!

The first time I managed to sneak a peek at them was through the glass doors of ExCel Custom House when I first arrived at the event. It was only for a split second, but that counts, right?

Then, I was able to see them again at the Live Q&A, where they answered some fan questions and tried really hard to avoid spoilers. As you can see from the film below, I got the best seat in the house.

The Q&A went smoothly, and the cast and MC kept things light. They spoke about difficult situations, such as when filming became impossible because no one could keep a straight face. They also touched on the Shadowhunters fanbase, and how strong and supportive it is (I should know). Overall, it was a fun little Q&A session.

Next up, I saw the cast during their main stage panel. There they spoke more about the upcoming Season 3B and potential air dates (Spring 2019?). They also took some time to address the #SaveShadowhunters campaign, set up by fans concerned that the TV show is to be cancelled. They said they were amazed by the campaign and how far people are prepared to go to support them.

After that I saw them at a panel interview. The cast were quizzed on their other projects, and whether the show’s proposed cancellation had affected their other acting plans. It was a touchy subject, and the actors took the questions with sad but understanding smiles.

That final press conference left me feeling as though I’d never see that cast again, and I guess I was wrong, because before long I found myself squeezed in next to them in an elevator. Suppressing an internal meltdown, I managed to ask for a picture with all of them and they gladly agreed, calling it an “elevator selfie”.

London MCM was, frankly, the time of my life. Meeting the cast of Shadowhunters was a dream, and the rest of the event was suitably star-studded. My only hope is that the commitment from fans keeps the show around a while longer.
