The UEL student underground bar was alive with the sound of live music as music students were given the chance to perform original material and covers of some of the greatest music.

The UEL music department’s new event, Live Thursday, kicked off at the Docklands Campus. The event gives music students a platform to perform and show off the music they have written. This event will be the first time that many of the students have been able to perform live since the Coronavirus pandemic struck.

During an interview with the singer from group BatRat, Chloe Ann Ewens said how happy she was to be playing live again: “OMG, it is amazing. I haven’t played live in two-and-a-half years.”

The event will run as a collaboration between the music department and the Student Union. The first event was on Thursday the 21st of October and seemed to be a success, with many students from the music department performing and the turnout of students coming to support the artists exceeding expectations.

Live Thursday will take place on the third Thursday of every month and will include a variety of artists from across UEL.
