This game was intense as UEL took on fellow London rivals Westminster, but what was interesting is this was a rematch as the previous week UEL lost to Westminster in a close game in their home court.

But this time UEL had home court advantage and it was noticeable from the amount of noise being made by the fans in attendance. Even though this was a game between the second teams, you wouldn’t know that as the skill level was good enough to be on par with the first team.

UEL got off to a fast start by making a basket in the first 30 seconds, but Westminster hit back by scoring two free throws in a matter of seconds to even the score in mere seconds.

Going into half time the game was close, with Westminster just narrowly leading.

As spectators came back from getting refreshments the 3rd quarter was underway and this was anybody’s game.

As the final buzzer sounded, UEL were declared the winners by beating Westminster 79-76. My player of the match was Melo, who put in a spectacular performance and leadership on display.

I would recommend everyone to at least come down once and experience a matchday themselves as not only are you supporting your university team, but it’s a thrilling competition that will have you invested in the outcome.

Spectators Were Left Impressed

After the game I spoke to another spectator Jordan who said, “I’ve never watched basketball but if all games are like this I might have to come more often, and I like that I got to play around on the court as the teams were in the changing rooms”.

Another spectator called Luke said, “This is the best 50/50 game I have seen in a long time”.
